Treatment at Aiséirí

The Minnesota approach to treatment reflects the incorporation of the philosophy of A.A into a professional, structured treatment programme.

There are three key objectives at the core of the Minnesota programme, namely:

  1. The growth of spiritual awareness
  2. Recognition of choice and personal responsibility; and
  3. Acceptance of the importance of peer relationships, are very similar to the Twelve Steps of A.A philosophy

Residential Treatment:

The residential programme is 28 days duration, and is based on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, which is now in use in many similar treatment centres throughout the world.

Treatment is tailored to the requirements of the individual. The confidential nature of matters arising from the working of this programme will be fully respected so as to protect the dignity of the individual concerned to the greatest possible extent.

Our Twelve Step Facilitation Model of Treatment is abstinence based. It combines psychological theory with a belief in the importance of the human spirit. It has three core perspectives;

• Treat people with chemical dependency.
• Treat them with dignity.
• Treat them as whole persons and restore their self-worth and dignity.

Individuals admitted to the programme while under the care of a medical or psychological professional may continue their treatment when appropriate.

A Consultant Psychiatrist visits the centre weekly and, detoxification and/or medical, psychological services are available through a network of qualified community providers.
